Pembrokeshire's
John Mathias, who is making a habit of riding
hat-tricks,
had another one here on Master Billy (Members),
Minsgill Mans (Men's Open)
and Chandlers Cross (Restricted).
Master Billy, who had initiated Mathias' hat-trick, had a walk-over in last year's race but this time had three rivals to beat and he made most of the running to win by a distance from Scania Classic.
Jonathan Tudor's 12-year-old Minsgill Mans, the oldest horse in the race,scored by two lengths from the favourite Warsaw Pact after Micks Prospect had fallen at the third and the front running Classic Chance had been carried out at the 13th.

Pritchard's Chandlers Cross got home by a neck
after getting up on the run-in to beat the pacemaking Mr
Cheetham, ridden by Dai Jones, who had
jumped every fence in front.
The Ladies Open race was won by Peter Corbett's homebred Upton Legend who won by five lengths from Test Of Friendship. Upton Legend is trained by Sarah-Jayne Davies and was ridden by Jane Williams.
However,
the race lost a lot of its interest when the odds-on favourite Cannon
Bridge unshipped leading amateur rider Isabel
Tompsett at the sixth fence.
Apparently, The Hairy Mutt who ran out at the
same obstacle didn't do Cannon Bridge according
to commentator Steve Payne "any favours.''

Lauren Jones saddled her first winner with her
first runner when her father Simon's Cutlass Silver,
ridden by former Lance Bombadier The Kings Troop RHA Jody
Sole, romped home a 12 lengths winner of the first division of the
Open Maiden Race.
On Oath winner
of the second division in a quicker time than the first had been run in was
a welcome winner for owner Carmen Goldsworthy
who lost two horses last year one of them at Llanfrynach.This seven-year-old
bay mare trained by Robert Scrine was the second
leg of a double for Welsh champion rider Rhys Hughes
who had earlier won the confined on Norman Jones's Kings
Euro who had to dig deep to beat Sams Lad
by four lengths.
