Good Entries Reward Teams Hard Work.
The Vale of Clettwr Point to Point Races on Saturday 6th February has received 109 entries, for it's opening meeting of the West Wales Point to Point season. They consist of a great mix of West Wales and South Wales horses, along with several from outside the principality, making up a seven race card, with the 'Maiden' race split into two divisions.
The first meeting of the season is always a fascinating one with new horses coming up against many that were successful last season. Race goers are advised to allow a bit more time studying the horses in the paddock before placing a bet with the on course bookmakers, as many trainers have found the weather conditions very challenging for training horses since December, their runners may be in need of an outing before being fully race fit.
The band of volunteers who build the course are a very tough group of men who have braved the elements to enable the meeting to go ahead with a 11:30 am start, the course at Erw Lon, near Pencader can be found on the B4336. Those with a Sat Nav need SA39 9DZ.
The weather is always a concern for any outdoor sport and if there are any problems with the meeting going ahead details can be found on www.pointtopoint.co.uk or ring Talking Point 09068 446061.These will let you know if there are any problems with the meeting going ahead.
